Understand and manage AI Memory
Review remembered details, save exclusions or restorations and distinguish memory from its source content.
Reviewed
AI Memory contains saved context that can help future chats and journal reflections. You can review details, remove them from active use and restore them later. Removing a detail does not delete the entry or chat it came from. MindDrive keeps an encrypted exclusion so the removed detail is not added back to active memory.
Open AI Memory
- Open the Chat menu and choose Memory.
- Choose Manage AI Memory.
- Review the Chat and Journal details shown.
- Select the details you want to remove from active use.
- Choose Save to apply your selection.
Selecting a detail is not the final save. If you leave with unsaved changes, MindDrive asks you to review them. If a save needs confirmation, use Check Save, Retry Save or Review Current Memory as offered. Keep the selection until you know the result.
Restore a detail
Expand Excluded Memory, choose Restore beside the detail, then choose Save. Restoring is a change to the memory selection, not a way to recover a deleted source entry or chat.
Turn cross-chat memory on or off
Return to Memory in the Chat menu and use the Cross-chat memory switch. Saved chats remain in the chat list whether the switch is on or off.
Clear cross-chat memory
The Memory dialog's Delete History action clears saved cross-chat memory and its exclusions after confirmation. It is different from deleting a chat in Chat History.
Clearing cross-chat memory does not delete your saved chats. Future memory can be built again from chats you keep. Manage Your Data offers separate controls for chats and other AI-generated data, so read the confirmation for the specific data you want to remove.
Read export and AI-data controls before using broader deletion actions. If you want to remove original writing, use the relevant entry or chat deletion control rather than only excluding a remembered detail.
