A little help along the way.

Organize with tags and favorites

Label folders and entries separately, combine tag filters and keep useful entries easy to find.

Reviewed

Tags help you find related writing without moving it into another folder. A tag can be assigned to a folder or to an individual entry. Those assignments remain separate, even when they use the same tag name.

Add tags

Add folder tags when creating or editing a folder. To tag an entry, tap the tag icon beside the heart while writing or reviewing it. Choose an existing tag or create one there. The entry's badge counts only that entry's tags, and entry tags are kept with a saved draft.

For example, a Work folder might have a Work tag while one entry inside it also has a Travel tag. The entry does not automatically inherit the folder's tag assignment.

Filter with tags

Open the tag menu in Write, Review or Mood Stats.

  • On Folders checks the folder's own tags.
  • On Entries checks tags assigned to individual entries.
  • Every selected tag within a section must match.
  • When both sections have selections, both sections must match.

In Write, On Entries finds folders containing a matching entry. Selecting more tags narrows the results. Clear a selection if you expected to see more content.

Manage your tags

Use Tag Manager to create, rename, reorder or delete tags. Deleting a tag removes its assignments from folders and entries. It does not delete the folders or journal entries themselves.

Use favorites

Tap an entry's heart to mark it as a favorite. Use the favorites filter in Review to return to those entries. Other active filters can still narrow the view, so clear them when a favorite seems missing.

See Review and filters for the rest of the browsing controls.
