A little help along the way.

Set up an authenticator

Add a six-digit sign-in check and save the recovery codes you may need if you change phones.

Reviewed

An authenticator app creates a changing six-digit code for your MindDrive account. MindDrive asks for that code as an additional sign-in check after your usual sign-in method. It is different from your four-digit App Lock PIN and from an email-verification link.

Open authenticator setup

In the app, go to Settings, Account, then Authentication Options. Choose Set Up Authenticator and complete any account-verification request shown. Have your authenticator app ready before continuing.

Add MindDrive to your authenticator

To set it up on one phone, open Authentication Options in MindDrive and choose Set Up Authenticator. Copy the setup key into your authenticator app, return to MindDrive and choose Next, then enter the six-digit code. If your authenticator is on another device, use Show QR Code instead.

Use an authenticator that supports setup keys or QR codes for changing six-digit codes. Keep the setup key private. When MindDrive asks you to verify, use the code for the MindDrive entry you just added, then wait for setup to finish.

Save your recovery codes

Keep your recovery codes somewhere you can access if you lose your phone. Each code can be used once. Account Recovery signs you in with an unused saved code and leaves the authenticator connected. After recovering access, review Manage Authenticator before relying on a new phone for future sign-ins.

Do this before leaving setup. A recovery code is different from the changing code in the authenticator. Do not put either a setup key or your recovery codes in a support message.

Review setup later

Return to Authentication Options and open Manage Authenticator to review the available management controls. Follow the verification and confirmation shown for the action you choose.

Before moving to a new phone, check the transfer instructions from your authenticator provider. Google Authenticator's help includes its supported transfer options. If you have already lost access, use authenticator and recovery help before removing an existing authenticator entry.
